Principal’s Report
Exceptional Community Turn Out
We had a wonderful school community turn out to the launch of our Active School Travel Day known as Fun Fit Friday. The numbers of parents, students, staff and community members who joined us at Rosemallow Park to walk or ride to school was exceptional. In fact, that was way beyond our expectations.
This reminds us of the strength of our community and it was special to come together for a coffee and then walk and ride to school as a group.
It felt like a festival at the meeting point in the school, sharing some AST memorabilia and breakfast items.
It reminds us that we are a strong positive community of people with a shared focus on the best outcomes for students.
Students are able to have their AST bag tags checked off each Friday morning near the Oval Undercover Area.
We will also be able to celebrate active school travel with a special breakfast each term:
Fun Fit Friday is every Friday

Harmony Day
One of our special days is Harmony Day. This is an opportunity for students to wear something orange.
Harmony Day is an important day where we come together to celebrate our diversity within a community where everyone belongs. We celebrate our different cultures and individual differences within our wonderful Coomera Springs community.
P&C AGM 24 March 2023
The P&C Committee are looking for parents and community members to fill the executive roles for 2023. By taking on an executive role, you contribute positively to the school, join a positive community making a difference and your own students and other students benefit. Please contact the school for any further information.
Parent and Community Code of Conduct
Supporting our school’s Parent and Community Code of Conduct
Our school strives to be a safe place for students to learn and for staff to work.
In support of this, we have adopted a Parent and Community Code of Conduct so that all visitors to our school can understand what is expected of them.
This Code has the support of our School Council and P&C. The Parent and Community Code of Conduct sits alongside our Student Code of Conduct and the Code of Conduct for the Queensland Public Service which applies to all staff.
A copy of the new Code can be found at Here
2024 Enrolments
Do you have a child turning 4 by 30 June 2023? These children are eligible for Prep in 2024. We have now opened Prep enrolments for the 2024 school year.
Choosing a schooling option for your children is an important and big decision. Make an informed choice by coming along for a School Tour to get to know the school first-hand.

NAPLAN
NAPLAN has moved from May to March. In 2023, NAPLAN tests will be held from 15 to 27 March. This means schools and teachers will have results earlier in the year to better inform school and system teaching and learning programs.
This year is the second year of NAPLAN being completed in an on-line format. This provides significant advantages to individualise the test to each individual student. NAPLAN is designed in a branched format with students starting at the same place then moving to different sets of questions ensuring that the test is tailored for the student. This provides the right amount of gentle challenge for each student. This worked very well for our students in 2022 and marks a significant advance in assessment.

Keeping up with school information
Our school communicates with our school community in a number of ways. This newsletter is one way. We also have class newsletters going home a couple of times a term. We also have a school Facebook page. Many families find that Facebook is a convenient way to receive updates and information.
Please see the following links to assist with accessing our school Facebook page.
https://www.facebook.com/CoomeraSpringsSS
Parents and community members who are not on Facebook may access the Facebook updates via the feed on the school website.
Celebrate Success
We celebrate our Chess competition, Kokoda Challenge, Active School Travel and Year 1 Pond Study in this fortnight's slideshow.

Executive Positions
Are you interested in being a part of the Coomera Springs State School P&C committee? Each year the Executive positions – P&C President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer all become vacant, ready for a new start. Parents and carers of our students are invited to nominate for an Executive position or general committee member. If you have some great ideas or can spare some time you also may be interested in joining the P&C fundraising group.
For more information or to answer any questions you have, please contact PandC@coomeraspringsss.eq.edu.au
The P&C committee are integral in organising school fundraisers (Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stall, Disco) as well as supporting the school during events (catering at Sports events, music events and other school events). The more parents and carers we have involved working together help to make these events come together and provide opportunities for our students.
For more information on each of the P&C executive positions, please see the information below.
Volunteering
Should you wish to be involved in events throughout the year, you are invited to participate in our “Just One Thing” P&C campaign. We hope to build on the success we’ve had previously, and give all Coomera Springs families a chance to be involved in our school community. Volunteering at the school is a great way to meet people and make new friends.
P & C Meeting
The next P&C meeting will be held on Friday 24th March at 3.15pm in the Staffroom. We look forward to seeing more members of the school community there!
