Principal’s Report
Construction starts on our new STEM Hub
We are excited to learn that construction will commence very soon on our new school STEM Hub. The regional infrastructure project will see the western outdoor learning area being enclosed and fitted out to be a modern purpose build facility for STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics) learning. As room will have many storage areas for equipment as well as areas for students to program, code and learn. The room will be airconditioned and integrated into the main resource centre. Our students who love chess will be pleased to know that the large chess board will be relocated adjacent to the STEM room. A construction site will be set up with construction to be completed ready for the start of the 2022 school year.
Welcome back to school for the final term of 2021. Term 4 is a significant and busy term for schools as we start to plan for 2022 and many transitions for students. We also look forward to many school events and final student reporting at the end of this year.

Book Fair
Dear Parents and Carers,
BOOK FAIR is coming. It will be here from Tuesday 2nd of November until Friday 5th November. Each class will come through to view the fair and do their wish list to bring home and show you. We will also take photos of the shelves with titles and prices and send home so you can see what is available if you are unable to come and see the Fair. More information about opening times will be sent out later and will also be displayed on class windows and around the school.
It is a wonderful time to buy early Christmas presents or birthday presents.
It will be held in the library. Students will be able to purchase before/ after school and during lunchtimes.
Many thanks
Sue Marriott Teacher Librarian.

P&C Executive Committee Members
We still have vacant Executive Committee Member positions. We are still seeking to fill the positions of:
- Vice President
- Fundraising Committee Members
If you or someone you know may be interested in being part of a wonderful working term to raise funds for school projects, please let myself or Erin Nichols know. We can be contacted on CSSS_PandC@coomeraspringsss.eq.edu.au or information can be obtained from the P&C Qld website, or their Facebook site:
https://pandcsqld.com.au/
https://www.facebook.com/pandcsqld/
To enable these events to be run successfully, the P&C are wishing to establish a Fundraising Committee. If you have or know someone who has the expertise in assisting and becoming part of the fundraising team, please let the Executive know. We all know that many hands can make the task easier. Should you be interested in volunteering your time to assist please let us know at the above email. Our vision is that this committee meets separately to the general meetings. May be over a cuppa before, during or after school. A report will then be presented at the general meeting.
Again, please let the Executive know if you are interested.
Next P&C Assoc Meeting:
Our next Meeting will be held on Friday 11 November 2021- 3.20pm in the Staffroom at the Resource Centre. All are most welcome to attend.
Thanks everyone and please stay safe.
Ann Arthur – President
Containers for Change
Our Springers are very excited to start recycling with Containers for Change!
Please see the flyers below for which containers/bottles are allowed to be placed in the bins, each class has been explicitly taught what they are.
Only containers at school in lunchboxes or from the tuckshop, are to be placed in the bins, students are not to bring things from home. There will be two large blue recycling bins at either end of the school (one in the tuckshop area, the other in the basketball court area). Thank you to our Year 3 cohort and teachers for initially trialling the program so we could work out all the kinks.
Big Battery Rescue
A reminder that we are still rescuing batteries from landfill and we need your help! There are only a few weeks left to send in all your old batteries so we can get them recycled. Remember, we will accept any of the regular household batteries (such as; AA, AAA…etc). However, please do not bring in car batteries as these are a safety hazard for students.
Each classroom has a battery bucket, there is one in the office and a large one in the library as well (blue with a red lid). You can stop in before school to drop off batteries for your child, or send them into school in a bag to be emptied into their classroom container.
Did you know? In Australia, each year over 300 million household batteries are thrown away with ordinary waste. Less than 3% are recycled meaning a staggering 14,000 tonnes of batteries end up in landfill.
Recycling your batteries allows us to stay in the running to win the 2021 National Schools Challenge! The weight of batteries we recycle will be measured and tracked so that we can share the fantastic results and the impact of our students with the whole community.
