Principal’s Report
Rocky Monster Show
Drum roll please…….
The ’Rocky Monster Show’ is
coming……
Cue dramatic orchestral music….
Get ready to dance…
Get ready to sing….
We are very excited as we look forward to our 2021 school musical, the Rocky Monster Show.
A lot of work has been going on in the background and rehearsals are starting to increase. I acknowledge our school based teams working on props, costuming, casting and recording. Full cast rehearsals start this week. We are very excited as we look forward to this excellent musical.
Keep an eye out for information on ticketing shortly.
NAIDOC Celebration
We recently commemorated NAIDOC at the school. The school had a display at NAIDOC Showcase, students participated in learning activities as the week culminated with a special NAIDOC Assembly. I commend our Barnum Jarjum Committee and students who made this a special commemoration for NAIDOC 2021.
Kokoda Challenge
Congratulations to our school's five Kokoda Challenge teams who completed the 17 km school event last weekend. These students had to be selected, trained every week and also participated in event practice over three weekends with their families. We are super proud of these students who all finished in exceptional time.
Creating Bright Futures Together with students reading every day for at least 20 minutes!
We continue a short focus on the innovating work happening at Coomera Springs to support learning for all students. Learning and becoming proficient at reading is a key part of our work in a primary school. Like any learning, we become better by practice. This week, we highlight the huge difference that a small amount of time spent reading every day makes over the primary schooling years. Small changes repeated every day compound to huge differences over the seven years of Prep and Primary schooling.
Not only does this little change help students with their scores, it also assists them to better engage in life, have more choices for future employment as well as links to better life prospects. Little things, like 20 minutes reading every day, can be the best guarantee of bright futures for our students.

News from our Music Department
INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC NEWS
This semester we welcome a new Band Teacher, Mr Craig Alloway. Mr Alloway has already commenced working with the Junior and Senior Band students. Band lessons and rehearsals are on MONDAYS for the rest of the year. In order to accommodate this day change Junior Strings lessons and rehearsal have moved to THURSDAYS.
BEENLEIGH EISTEDDFOD GROUPS CANCELLED
Sadly, the recent change in COVID restrictions forced the Beenleigh Eisteddfod Committee to cancel the School Music Groups again for 2021 – our Junior Band, Senior Band, Senior Strings and Drumline were looking forward to competing once again, and we have no doubt they would have represented Coomera Springs with excellence. Well done to all these performing groups and Music teachers for the hard work in preparing performance pieces.
GOLD COAST EISTEDDFOD IS STILL ON AT THIS STAGE
Permission slips for the Gold Coast Eisteddfod were due back at school at the end of last term – if your child has not returned their note please send it in ASAP.
Please take note of the date and time for our Junior Choir performance at the Gold Coast Eisteddfod. The time shown is the section start time. It is impossible to predict exactly how long the section will go or what time our students will be on stage.
Monday 9th August – Junior Choir at

(9:30 am start time)
SCHOOL MUSICAL UPDATE – THE ROCKY MONSTER SHOW 2021!
Our Tuesday after school rehearsals have now commenced, and we would like to congratulate all students for their effort, focus, and excellent behaviour. It’s going to be great to be able to get through everything that is planned for a rehearsal, and even have time to go through some things twice!

Musical Cast Shirts can be worn to school any day in Term 3 EXCEPT Formal Fridays, and on TUESDAYS in Term 4. We would love to see ALL CAST in their Musical Shirts on TUESDAYS for After School Rehearsals as well! A huge thanks to Mrs Hodder and Ms Talbot for all their hard work in designing and ordering the shirts, they look AMAZING!

Follow up information from School Locker
School Locker (Uniform Shop) have advised us that the stock of girls Skorts are being returned to the supplier due to a manufacturing concern. The replacement stock will be made available as soon as possible.
The P&C are also investigating the costs of including an optional school bag to the Uniform List. We are still in conversations with School Locker regarding the final design and costs. As well as the inclusion of supplies for the Music programs conducted at the school. More information will be communicated once it has been fully discussed.
To enable these events to be run successfully, the P&C will need to establish a Fundraising Committee. If you have or know someone who has the expertise in assisting and becoming part of the fundraising team, please let the Executive know. We all know that many hands can make the task easier. Should you be interested in volunteering your time to assist please let us know at the above email. Our vision is that this committee meets separately to the general meetings. May be over a cuppa before, during or after school. A report will then be presented at the general meeting.
Again, please let the Executive know if you are interested.
Thank you and stay safe.
