Principal’s Report

A big shout out to our Coomera Springs families

We have a very special community here at Coomera Springs as partners supporting Coomera Springs students. We thank our families for the exceptional support provided in creating a wonderful, positive and rich learning environment for students. It has been amazing to see the students involved in the recent events such as the P-2 Easter Hat Parade, school and community ANZAC Day events and Year 5 Camp. It really takes a village to raise a child and we have a wonderful school community working with us to help create the brightest of futures for our 850 wonderful students.

Parent – Teacher Interviews – Monday 10th May

Please keep an eye out for information on how to book a Parent – Teacher Interview for your student. We will be opening up opportunities to book a Parent-Teacher Interview with the greatest availability being in the afternoon/evening of Monday 10th May.

To assist families with more than one student, you will be able to book interviews for each of your students within the one time period and in the same location.

On the 10th May, we are trialling a method for interviews that has proven very successful for other schools and colleges. Parents will be able to book a ten minute interview slot with all interviews being held in the school Hall.

P&C General Meeting – 12th May

We invite all parents/carers and community members to consider an opportunity to volunteer on the P&C Executive. With the P&C AGM coinciding with a significant rain event, there remains an opportunity to fill a couple more executive positions at the May meeting. This is an opportunity to directly contribute to your child’s schooling in a way that benefits all students.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any question at all about the P&C.

Mothers’ Day

The P&C Committee have planned a Mothers’ Day Stall on Wednesday 5 May, as well as a Mothers’ Day Raffle to assist with the acknowledgement of the role of mothers and other family members. Your child will have the opportunity to choose their own gift for their special person through the school stall.

We all owe our existence to a wonderful person who gave us life and nurtured us throughout our life.

Creating Bright Futures Together with students achieving 21st Century skills at Currumbin Valley Farm Camp!

We continue a short focus on the innovating work happening at Coomera Springs to support learning for all students. Our Year 5 students recently completed the Currumbin Valley Rescue Program at their camp. The camp was fun and enriching for the students whilst also covering parts of the Australian Curriculum relating to Personal and Social Capability. These aspects include self-management and contribution to teams to achieve a goal – in this case completing a rescue. The students really came alive as they worked together to solve ‘problems’ to achieve their important team goal. These are very important life skills for the future… to work within teams, to innovate, solve problems and achieve goals.

The students enjoyed working together towards a challenging goal with the purpose of making a rescue. To achieve this, they experienced some sense of challenge to push themselves in an achievable way.

All teams were successful and the cadets graduated! We are super proud of our Year 5 students.

Parent/Carer Information

More information on the Currumbin Valley Rescue Program for Year 5 including the curriculum links is available here.

Students need to be challenged in order to grow, learn and become confident and resilient in a supportive environment. In 2021, we work to create bright futures together.
