Principal’s Report

Excellence Overview at Coomera Springs in 2019

During 2019, Coomera Springs students have taken up the opportunity to show excellence in a wide range of pursuits across sport, culture, the arts, canoe club, running club, touch football, NAIDOC commemoration, debating, leadership, Premiers Reading Challenge, School Writing Competition, STEM, STEAM, chess and other academic areas.

Springs students have achieved in representing the school, district, region and state. There were many, many highlights this year including our camp program, from a sleep-over to Currumbin Valley and Tallebudgera Camps. We enjoyed many special celebration days, including Book-week, Born to Read, Interhouse sports carnivals of cross country, athletics and swimming. There were two major events in Kokoda Challenge and our wonderful musical – The Amazing Adventures of Superstan! Who can forget 2019? So many amazing memories! Students here achieved many top places and many, many first-place achievements as individuals and teams and for the school.

I take this opportunity in thanking the Coomera Springs students who are the reason we come to work every day. I thank our amazing staff at Coomera Springs who really go the extra distance for our Springers. I also thank our sponsors, our wonderful P&C and families for supporting us all the way during 2019.

This week, we acknowledge our departing Year 6 cohort who will soon be moving in many directions for Junior Secondary school. I have been very impressed with our 2019 Year 6 students whom I got to know early in my time at the Tallebudgera Beach School. We are immensely proud of your growth and achievements and we will miss you.

To those staff and students who are leaving us, we thank you and we will miss you. To the others, we look forward towards contributing to our community - creating futures for Coomera Springs students in 2020.

P&C News

Well, what a year! I can't believe we have come to the end of another year!

Update on Fundraising for Term 4

This term we had 3 events which were all a lot of fun!

Event

Money Raised

CSSS Twilight Xmas Market

$2,730.00

School Disco

$2,705.61

Christmas Stall

$1,824.82

In TOTAL for term 4, we have raised $7,260.43!

This total will be carried into next year, hopefully we can raise more funds to complete the next stage of air conditioning.

Being the P&C President this year has been a lot of hard work, especially when I was not prepared. Once I found my feet and started to sort out a few things it was a lot of fun, a lot of laughs and just watching the students participate in all the events throughout the year with smiles on their faces was just great!I think the best part of the year for myself, was watching the year 5 and 6's walk into airconditioned classrooms at the beginning of this term. The smiles on their faces was enough for me to see how thankful these students and teachers were to the school community for all the fundraising carried out in terms 1, 2 and 3.

Next year, I will be stepping down as President. I am hoping there is someone in our school community who will come forward and take over this role in the P&C for 2020.

We will be having the AGM early term 1, so if you are interested or know of anyone who would like to become President please email myself at csssvp2@gmail.com and I will be happy to let you know what is involved.

The tuckshop has been very successful and extremely busy this year. Thank you to Angela and Vivienne in the tuckshop and all our wonderful volunteers for all your hard work and dedication.

I would like to thank the P&C Executives, Kirsty Duncan, Yolanda Beck and Lisa Cooper for all their hard work and support.

Thank you to Mr McMillian, Mr Morris, Mrs Raffin, Mrs Lewis, Mrs McLean, Jo Hindmarch and all the office staff for all their continuous support this year!

Last but not least, thank you to the school community for all your ongoing support and hard work through the year. Without you, we could not have achieved what we have this year.

I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year! Stay safe over the holidays and I will see you all in 2020.

P & C Meeting

Our next meeting will be held on Wednesday 12th February in the Staff room (next to the library) at 3.30pm.

Meetings are held every 2nd Wednesday of the month.

We hope to see you all there.
