Coomera Springs Excellence creating futures for students!

2019 School Opinion Survey

Coomera Springs State School is constantly looking for ways where we can improve. We use a variety of measurement data and feedback to help us to determine some ways to improve. Our School Opinion Survey is one key piece of information to assist us. We have recently received our school reports. These are the provided headline graphics with regards to the parents who completed the survey. We thank the 64 parents/families who took the time to complete the survey in August.

Overall, parents expressed an average of 94.9% satisfaction, with the Queensland average being 91.4%.

Overall, students expressed an average of 91.8% satisfaction, with the Queensland average being 89.3%.

School Car Parks

We have two car park student drop off and pick up areas. These car parks have clearly signposted parking and stopping areas as well as designated bus areas. Student safety is the highest priority and we all expect that vehicles in this area watch out for children moving about wherever they might be. We advise all drivers in this area that these areas are subject to Police traffic enforcement without notice.

2020 School Calendar

The 2020 School Calendar has recently been published by the Queensland Department of Education. There is a change to the gazetted Student Free Day, previously occurring in October to be on Friday 4 September in 2020. Families may download the 2020 calendar here.

Lyneham High School Incursion – Symphony Orchestra Excursion

Over the past two weeks we have been very fortunate to be able to offer two fantastic music opportunities for our students. Last week our school hosted a touring high school band of Year 10 students (Lyneham High School from Canberra) and we were blown away by their talent and great song selections! The previous week our Year 4 Music COE students travelled to Brisbane to watch a performance of “Peter and the Wolf”, performed by the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. Fun for everyone and wonderful musical learning opportunities.

Senior Choir Yr 4-6 Music Count Us In (MCUI) Excursion

Next week Senior Choir students in Year 4 - 6 will represent our school with pride at a combined schools performance for the annual “Music Count Us In” (MCUI) day. This year the nationwide live broadcast is being hosted at the Gold Coast, so viewers all around Australia will see our students perform at the Surfers Paradise Foreshore – how exciting! MCUI gives us a wonderful opportunity to perform in combination with other school choirs, and is a great way to celebrate music in our schools. So that we can share this celebration of MCUI with our whole school community, the Junior and Senior Choirs will lead the school in singing the MCUI song for 2019, “We Are” on assembly today.

Instrumental Music Testing For 2020 Beginners

Thank you to everyone who has submitted an EOI form for Instrumental Music in 2020 – Year 3 Strings 2020 (current Year 2s) and Year 4 Band 2020 (current Year 3s). We have begun the process by administering a Musical Perception test (Selmer Test) for all Year 2 and 3 students, and will shortly be commencing the instrument testing phase where students have an opportunity to try out playing the instrument/s they are considering learning. If you have not yet submitted your EOI form please do so ASAP or your child may miss the opportunity to try out on an instrument. Instrumental Music acceptances and instrument allocations will be issued in the last two weeks of term.

Please note:

We are still looking for a few more current Year 2 students wishing to learn Strings in 2020. If your child in Year 2 came home from the Strings presentation yesterday asking about learning Strings and you would like to know more, please email Mrs Murray amurr51@eq.edu.au ASAP – late applications are still being taken for Strings but must close next week.
