Principal’s Report
Sincere thanks
Sincere thanks to everyone for a wonderful start to Term 2. Students are happy, learning and benefiting from wonderful excellence programs at the school. This continues through the second half of Term 2.
We have Gala Sports, Athletics, Life Education, Music Showcase and Year 6 Camp to look forward to before this term finishes. Families will also receive Student Reports at the end of this term.
Under 8s
Smiles and excitement were the order of the day at our recent Under 8s Day. This was a great day to explore, create, be playful and enjoy early childhood. Thank you to the teaching teams involved and Mr Maloney for his leadership of this.

Best wishes to CSSS Kokoda Kids
After a rigorous program of training and preparation our CSSS Kokoda Kids Teams apply their courage, endurance, mateship and sacrifice in the Brisbane event this weekend. We thank our major sponsor 'Coomera City Centre' for their financial contribution. We also thank team leaders and supporters including Olympian and Commonwealth Games Marathon Gold Medallist, Michael Shelly and Clint from 'Shred n Rip Fitness'. Our teams were privileged to be assisted by such champions. Please support those who support us.
Facilities Upgrades
There have been some upgrades to facilities around the school over the last month or so. Gold Coast City Council have upgraded the car park islands with new turf and traffic barriers to improve the visibility and appearance of the front car park. Please help maintain the safety and appearance of the car park by parking in correctly marked bays only.
The school has also received CCTV throughout the school. The purpose of this is to improve security leading to the identification of possible intruders and to assist the QPS in the possible instance of illegal entry. The CCTV is not used for student supervision nor identification of students during school time. Please spread the word that anyone who enters the school without valid reason or permission can be recorded by the CCTV and reported to QPS for trespassing.
Cooler weather
School attendance continues to be important as we approach winter. We expect all students to attend school each day unless there is a good reason that is provided to the school. Students should be kept at home if they are experiencing 'flu-like’ symptoms.
Kind Regards,
Chris McMillan
Principal

Music Showcase Evening
The CSSS Music Showcase Evening will be held on Thursday 13th of June 5:30pm – 7.15pm in our school hall. This will be a very exciting evening of music and entertainment. All of our Instrumental Music Ensembles (Band and Strings) will be performing, as well as our Junior Choir, Ukulele Band, Drumline and Music Centre of Excellence Classes! This is a great opportunity for parents of potential Instrumental Music students to come along and see what the program has to offer.
The P&C will be running a canteen on the night with hot food, snacks and drinks available for purchase before the performance and at interval. Our whole school community is invited to come along and enjoy some wonderful entertainment!
Students who are performing at the Music Showcase Evening have been given a note with all the important details for the night and a return slip to complete – please return these to Mrs Murray ASAP so we can make arrangements for supervision of performers before and during the concert. If your child does not have this note please send them to see Mrs Murray.
Eisteddfod is Coming Soon
Our Year 5 and 6 Students in the Senior Band, Senior Strings and Drumline are currently in preparation to perform at the Beenleigh Eisteddfod (held at Logan Entertainment Centre) on Tuesday 23rd July - Week 2 of next term.

Music Shirts
Our performing ensembles look amazing in their Music Shirts. If your child is performing in the Music Showcase Concert and does not have a Music Shirt, now is the time to order! Music Shirts are available from the uniform shop for $30 and can be worn to school on Thursdays in 2019.
