Principal’s Report
NAPLAN
I want to honour our Year 3 and 5 students this week for their engagement in NAPLAN testing. I would also like to acknowledge and thank our school staff along with our families in supporting our students to undertake NAPLAN to the best of their ability with a balanced approach.
Many students enjoy NAPLAN and see it as an opportunity to challenge themselves to show what they can do. It is important that young students learn to deal with low key challenges to prepare for later life. I speak on behalf of the entire school leadership team in saying how proud we are of our Year 3 and 5 students for their efforts this week during NAPLAN.
The school will use the results from NAPLAN when they arrive to determine our areas of focus into the future.
Mother’s Day Stall and Raffle
Thank you to the many families who supported the P&C Mother’s Day Stall and Raffle. Thank you also to the many volunteers who made this happen for our students and the Mums out there.
The P&C were able to raise valuable funds to support their school improvement projects including continuing classroom air-conditioning.
Business Manager
Mrs Jean Newall has been the Business Manager at Coomera Springs State School since before the school opened. Jean is currently on a period of approved leave until the end of this year.
We welcome Ms Jo Hindmarch to the Business Manager role at our school. Ms Hindmarch comes with extensive experience in school administration and leaves our Mt Gravatt office where she holds the position of School Finance Advisor.
Federal Election
An election booth will be held at our school this Saturday from 8am until 6pm.
The booth will offer voting in the division of Forde as well as absentee voting for anywhere in Queensland. Interstate voters can vote at the Helensvale Senior Citizens Centre, 37 Discovery Drive, Helensvale.
If you come along to our school to vote, you will also be able to purchase your democracy sausage by supporting the Coomera Springs State School P&C who will have a stall adjacent to the polling place.
Kind Regards,
Chris McMillan
