Principal’s Report
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
This newsletter brings us to the closure of the 2018 school year.
It has been another amazing school year at Coomera Springs, and one that I have once again been proud to be a part of.
Each term is always jam packed with learning and surplus activities and Term 4 has been no exception. To give you a post glimpse, here are just some of the things that have occurred over the past 10 weeks:
- Year 3 Sleepover
- Footsteps to Fame
- Year 1 Swimming
- School Fete
- World Teachers’ Day
- Bookfair
- Music Count Us In
- Year 5 Leadership Process
- Prep Expo
- Gala Sports Day
- Swimming Carnival
- 2019 Prep Orientation Program
- Movember
- Christmas Concerts
- Awards Assemblies
- Year 6 Graduation
- Final Roll Call
- Pizza Party
This is not even the full list of events or part of the learning that has occurred. So it has been one very busy term, and one that would not have been possible without the hard work, commitment and dedication of our wonderful staff.
Whilst there has been many celebrations across the last few weeks, I would like to make special mention of our Year 6 graduating students.
This week we have held both our formal graduation dinner and final roll call to acknowledge our outgoing students. There are 121 students leaving in this cohort and they have certainly made Coomera Springs proud. We wish each graduating student the very best in their learning journey ahead, and hope that they enjoy the high school experience. It has been an honour to have watched our students start their time here in Prep back in 2012, and now reach this milestone of finishing their primary education.
Farewell to some Coomera Springs Staff
As well as exiting students, we also say goodbye to some of our much loved staff.
This year we have a small handful of staff who are making the move to new experiences ahead. We are saying farewell to Mrs Anita Cubit, Mr Patrick Penny, Mr James Nelson, Mrs Charmaine Jeffrey and Ms Hannah Jeffrey.
I want to thank each member for their valued contributions to Coomera Springs State School and to making the learning of our students the best it can be. We hope that you all enjoy the next part of your journey as well.
Important Dates for 2019
As 2018 draws to a close, it’s important to have the following dates marked in your calendar for 2019.
School resumes on Tuesday 29th January. Class lists will be on display once again from early in the school morning and I highly recommend checking this one more time before proceeding to classes.
The uniform shop will be open during our Pupil Free Days across the 23rd, 24th and 25th January.
Once school begins, we will advertise our parent information sessions for the new year.
Principal Message
I wanted to personally wish our entire school community a wonderful and happy Christmas break. I hope that each family is able to stop and enjoy the time ahead with loved ones, and to have some time to refresh their batteries.
This takes me to end of my seventh year as Principal of Coomera Springs and we continue to grow, improve and offer our students the very best. Thank you to the many families who help in any way they can across the school year. Community is very important, and I genuinely believe that our students benefit from this relationship.
So from my family to yours, Merry Christmas and I hope to see you all back safely with us for the 2019 school year.
Kind Regards
Martine Gill
