Principal’s Report

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Our final newsletter for the end of school term and year. What an incredibly busy and amazing year it has been.

As we have started to finalise certain aspects of school life for 2017, we are also in busy planning mode for 2018. Our school continues to grow in its enrolment numbers and we are anticipating another class growth for next year. I keep working hard trying to get our school a better solution than demountables, and next year will make this a high priority to keep pushing this agenda forward.

If you are leaving us in 2018 and have not yet let the office know, please make sure you do this as soon as possible. Alternatively, if you know a family has not yet enrolled, this week would be ideal to let us know, as the office will close down over the Christmas break.

To Our Graduating Students and Families

This week we celebrated our graduating Year 6 students at both their Graduation Ceremony and Final Roll Call. Both of these events were very special for not only our students, but also their families and the staff who have all had a part in getting our students to this point of exiting their years of primary schooling.

We wish each and every student the absolute best in this next exciting chapter of their lives and we hope that they can all take some special memories from their time here at Coomera Springs State School into their future days at high school.

We also thank our students for their contributions to our wonderful school. Remember boys and girls, as I said at your graduation, make your bed every single morning, start your day accomplishing the small things and pay attention to doing the small things well. They will make a difference to how you approach the bigger things.

Farewell to Some Staff Members

At this time of the school year we also say farewell to some staff who are moving on to new chapters as well. This year we are saying goodbye to Mrs Rooks who is taking the leap into the world of high school. To Mrs Muir-Woods who will be moving to a new chapter in teaching music and to Mrs Favaloro, who is making a big geographical move. We also say goodbye to our Pedagogy Coach Mrs Pritchett.

I want to thank each member of our staff for their invaluable contributions to our students and our school. We can only be as good as the collective mix of all the people who make up Coomera Springs. We wish each person the absolute best in their next journey in education.

Thank You to Our Volunteers and P&C

It is no secret that schools do not just exist because of the work of the staff. We have countless volunteers and one very energetic and passionate P&C who give up their own time to ensure that our school has many different community activities throughout the year that our school then benefits from. Thank you also to our tuckshop staff who do an amazing job servicing so many children five days a week. You have all made the year that much better at Coomera Springs.

A Week of Celebrations

As the year has come to a close we have had a big week of celebrations. Firstly starting with our Christmas Concerts. What a spectacular event of celebrating and it was such a festive feeling to be sitting amongst a sea of red, green and tinsel. We had so many parents and grandparents attending, and I always cherish the opportunity to get some hugs in with our littlest of the future Coomera Springers.

Our Awards Assemblies were celebrated on Monday to honour the work of our students across the school. This was an exciting time for many parents to see their children receiving some very special awards.

Graduation and Roll Call were the final celebrations for our graduating students.

Some truly memorable moments across the week for all to share in.

School Security

Just reminding our local families to be vigilant over the summer break and to help keep an eye out on our school. State Security will do their daily checks, but it’s always great to know that our community keeps an eye out for us as well.

Feedback Friday Sessions Are Coming Back

Feedback Friday Sessions are making a comeback in 2018. In the past, we have invited parents in to have an informal conversation about different matters involving school life. These conversations form part of gathering feedback and thoughts on how we can strengthen those imperative links between home and school. The topics will be focussed around important aspects of school life. Whilst there will always be an open invitation, I will also be sending home some personal invitations to families to join me for a coffee and chat. Don’t panic if you receive one of these, it’s an informal process, but an invaluable process. We will be looking to host a minimum of two sessions per term. Really exciting times ahead in continuing to move our school forward.

Final Message

I personally want to thank all of our families for another wonderful year. It’s hard to believe that this wraps up my sixth year here at Coomera Springs. It is always a privilege to serve my community and to work hard to offer our students the best.

I hope everyone has a safe and joyous break. I encourage all of us to take time to reflect, appreciate and be with those people in our lives who matter.

School resumes on Monday 22nd January. In the meantime, from my family to yours, we wish you all a Merry Christmas.

Kind Regards
Martine Gill
Principal

Changes from Flexischools to Monitor

We have been listening to the parents about the issues currently facing them when using FlexiSchools to order tuckshop and uniforms online. From system crashing to paying fees to top up and place orders we have looked at them all.

We are excited to announce we are moving away from FlexiSchools for 2018. We are setting up our web pages with Monitor. What this means for you is:

No fees to top up your account
No fees to place orders online
Simple and easy process
No more system crashes when multiple people ordering online

Please keep an eye out on Facebook over the holidays for the new link to ordering online.

If anyone has any questions please don’t hesitate to contact Sharon on coomeraspringspresident@gmail.com.

Uniform Shop

We will be opening 2 weeks before school starts back. Please keep an eye on our facebook page for more information and opening times.

Tuckshop
